ALLEN/FULLER’s Financial Services, Real Estate, Loan Workout and Bankruptcy practice is managed by John L. Allen.  Mr. Allen has extensive background representing financial services clients and real estate developers in a wide range of complex commercial legal matters and transactions.  His commercial practice includes extensive work in the area of creditors' rights, workouts, bankruptcies, loan modifications, secured lending, commercial real estate, sophisticated civil and bankruptcy litigation.  He represents clients in  substantial banking, corporate, insurance and regulatory interests as well as small business and land use planning matters.  Because of the firm's size, location and structure it is able to handle large and small, complex and relatively simple matters in an efficient and economic manner.

Mr. Allen has practiced law in New Hampshire and Massachusetts for approximately 20 years since relocating his practice at Hopkins & Sutter in Chicago to New Hampshire.  He is active in various civic, political and charitable organizations and is recognized for his expertise, having served as an instructor, speaker and author on various legal topics for such organizations as the New Hampshire Bar Journal, National Business Institute and American Institute of Banking.

Mr. Allen provides statewide coverage in New Hampshire and in Essex and Middlesex County in Massachusetts for commercial title examinations.  Title insurance is issued by the firm as an agent of Old Republic National Title Insurance Company.

Mr. Allen is admitted to practice in New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Illinois.  Mr. Allen has a broad range of experience in the areas of debt restructuring or workouts, debt collection (commercial), bankruptcy, foreclosures, commercial real estate (acquisition and development), secured lending transactions, bank regulatory and commercial law and litigation (including lender liability claims) representing banking institutions and federal banking regulators or their servicing agents in New Hampshire and Massachusetts.  Mr. Allen is a recipient of the N.H. Bar Association President's Award for Outstanding Pro Bono Service (1989).  Mr. Allen is a former member of the New Hampshire Bar Association Mediation Committee. He is a member in good standing of the American Bankruptcy Institute.  Mr. Allen is co-author of an article published in the Winter 1992 issue of the New Hampshire Bar Journal entitled The Powers of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation Under 12 U.S.C.1823(e) and the D'Oench Duhme Doctrine.   Mr. Allen is co-author of an article published in the March 1995 issue of the New Hampshire Bar Journal entitled Taking Possession of Mortgaged Premises: The Lender's Alternative.  Mr. Allen has also served as lecturer and as an instructor for the National Business Institute and American Institute of Banking on the subjects of secured lending, real estate, workouts, bank regulation, commercial paper, letters of credit, bank deposits and collection and other banking fundamentals.  Mr. Allen formerly served as primary claims counsel within the State of New Hampshire for Stewart Title Guaranty Company Old Republic National Title Insurance Co. and LandAmerica (Commonwealth Title) national title companies.
